Peyton Manning and Tim Tebow Where High Performance Unites With Higher Consciousness

In the meat market of professional football, the Denver Broncos look at Peyton Manning as well-aged prime meat. And Tim Tebow? A cut below. But sometimes, even in meat markets, higher consciousness prevails. (How often do you hear the term “higher consciousness” connected to football players?)
In business, government, religion, humanitarian efforts and even our families, most people yearn for leaders with higher consciousness.
In the heart of Denver, we momentarily had two quarterbacks who think and live in their higher consciousness. Peyton Manning and Tim Tebow have demonstrated great depth of character and consciousness in Manning’s recent free agent acquisition and Tebow’s trade.
Manning openly states that he isn’t 100% healthy: “I have some strength that I have to get back.” He even provided the Broncos with a computer disk containing all of his medical history. Wouldn’t it be incredible if a job applicant were this candid in an interview? Manning reportedly also convinced Broncos executives to protect the Broncos’ organization in the contract because of his medical challenges. Whoa, can you imagine negotiating with a potential hire and hearing, “If I can’t perform at the level I promise, you won’t have to pay me”?
When Manning demonstrated his throwing ability, he was more critical of it than John Elway was. Manning said: “It wasn’t great throwing. … I’m not where I want to be. … It bothers me that I don’t feel the way I want to feel.”
And do you think this superstar — who has been the league’s most valuable player four times, been a Pro Bowl selection 11 times and won a Super Bowl — feels entitled? Not a chance. He stated: “When some guys get huge new contracts, they’re asked, ‘What are you going to do with the money you just made?’ And they will say they’re going to buy this and that.” But don’t expect Manning to go on a buying spree. He said, “I’m sitting there saying, ‘I’m going to try and go earn it.’” That’s a high-performance mindset and a guy I’ll bet you’d love to hire (if you could afford him)!
And what about Tim Tebow, a man of great character and a leader who deserves both appreciation and admiration? What did he say when the Broncos VP John Elway and head coach John Fox told him he might be traded because of the Manning deal? He said, “Well, we’re talking about Peyton Manning, and I understand exactly what you’re doing.”
Two quarterbacks, two men of great character, two men with higher-conscious thinking. We can all learn high performance and higher-consciousness thinking from these two men. Do you think like a high performer?
